About us
Our members are homeschooling families that prefer learning in a community rather than independent academic pursuits. The parents in our community have generally found our children to be more motivated to explore interests, engage and exchange ideas with their peers.
We aspire to cultivate a kind, consistent community of homeschooling tweens and teens where the youth's voice is heard and choice respected. We come together to explore and create meaningful relationships and embrace opportunities for self-growth through introspection and feedback.
We are a diverse community that supports Human Rights through social change movements against systematic discrimination and oppression. We support liberation movements of Youth-Directed Education, Youth Rights, BLM, LGBTQ+ Rights, Woman's Rights, Immigrants' Rights, Homelessness, and more. We strive to be thoughtful communicators, both with body language and the use of words and tone in the community. We believe in compassion and collaboration at HGEC, not hubristic competition.
